Courageous Yon: Round 2 – Guest Battler

yonI always try to give credit where credit is due and friend of mine, Mandris, has put together a strategy that allows you to bring along a level 1 pet for Courageous Yon.  Enjoy!

Goal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Courageous Yon’s Team:

  • fl16 Piqua – Squawk, Lift-Off, Flock
  • cr16 Lapin – Adrenaline Rush, Burrow, Flurry
  • be16 Bleat – Bleat, Chew, Stampede

Your Team:

  • dr16 Chrominius (H/H) with Bite, Howl, and Surge of Power
  • Level 1
  • hu16 Anubisath Idol (H/H) with Crush, Sandstorm, and Deflection

Start off with Chrominius and use Howl and Bite.  The Bite will miss and you’ll get hit with Lift-Off, but use Surge of Power and Piqua will be toast.  After recovering from the Surge of Power, you can bite a time or two against Lapin before Chrominius dies.  Pop your level 1 pet in and out and then finish the rest of the fight with Anubisath Idol.  Just keep Sandstorm up continuously and deflect the Burrow from Lapin (usually not needed) or the Chew from Bleat.  Anytime you’re not doing those two things, use Crush.

Thundering Pandaren Spirit: Round 2

earthGoal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Thundering Pandaren Spirit’s Team:

  • Pandaren Earth Spirit – Ruptue, Crystal Prison, Stone Shot
  • Sludgy – Ooze Touch, Creeping Ooze, Expunge
  • Darnak the Tunneler – Burrow, Stone Skin, Stone Rush

Your Team:

Start with Rabbit and follow this pattern until the Earth Spirit is dead – Scratch, Burrow, Dodge, Scratch, Scratch.

Swap to your Dragonling when Sludgy comes in and use Breath twice and then use Decoy.  Use Bombing Run and then keep hitting Breath to finish off Sludgy.  Darnak will come in and you’ll be able to use Breath twice before he uses Burrow.  Plus, Bombing Run will have hit and you’ll still get a last Breath in with your mechanical racial resurrection.

Once your Dragonling dies, bring your level 1 pet in.  Immediately swap him back out for the Rabbit and finish off Darnak with the following priorities.  If Burrow and Stone Rush are off of cooldown, he will Burrow so hit him with Scratch and then Dodge.  If only Stone Rush is off of cooldown he’ll use that, so Burrow to avoid it.  Otherwise use Scratch.

Whispering Pandaren Spirit: Round 3 – Guest Battler

airMy guest today is a long time WoW friend of mine – Kutubiyya.  He was kind enough to put a great deal of effort into posting an updated patch 5.4 strategy for the Whispering Spirit, so I’m featuring it here.

Goal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Whispering Pandaren Spirit’s Team:

  • Dusty – Moth Balls, Moth Dust, Cocoon Strike
  • Whispertail – Flyby, Slicing Wind, Wild Winds
  • Pandaren Air Spirit – Slicing Wind, Wild Winds, Soothing Mists

Your Team:

Start with your leveler, it needs enough health to survive the hit from Dusty’s Moth Dust. It’ll do at least 400 but it’s crit on occasion for 600+ and even more for aquatic pets. Swap to Nether Faerie and use Arcane Blast (to pop cocoon), then Moonfire. Next Dusty will use Moth Dust again and unless it sleeps your Dragon, three more Arcane Blasts (including a Cocoon pop) should finish him. If you do get slept, pass (Dusty will Cocoon Strike again), AB to pop the cocoon then two more AB to finish him off.

Once Whispertail comes out, the goal is to have at least 100-150 health on your Faerie Dragon. Use Life Exchange to start (you’ll be hit by Flyby but it shouldn’t kill you) and you’ll cut Whispertail’s health almost in half. Use Arcane Blast then finish Whispertail off with Moonfire.

When the Air Spirit comes out you’ll get at least one more AB when it leads off with Soothing Mists but Wild Winds will usually kill your Faerie Dragon. Swap to your Emerald Drake, cast Emerald Presence to negate the damage even more then use Emerald Bite ’til the spirit is dead (usually 4-5 bites). Don’t bother refreshing Presence or using Emerald Dream unless things really go bad.

One thing to mention is there’s a chance Dusty could sleep your Nether Faerie Dragon twice which will either kill it or not leave it with enough health to use Life Exchange on Whispertail’s first round. If that’s the case the Emerald Whelp should be able to solo the rest of the fight by refreshing Presence right before it drops followed by Emerald Dream. It takes a bit longer but it’s not especially difficult.

Final note, the Sprite Darter Hatchling has the same move-set as the Faerie Dragon and the Emerald Whelpling, which PetCharge has utilized judiciously, is an alternative for the Emerald Proto-Whelp. Although I’d argue the Proto-Whelp is an alternative to the Whelpling.

Thanks Kutu!

Whispering Pandaren Spirit: Round 2

airGoal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Whispering Pandaren Spirit’s Team:

  • Dusty – Moth Balls, Moth Dust, Cocoon Strike
  • Whispertail – Flyby, Slicing Wind, Wild Winds
  • Pandaren Air Spirit – Slicing Wind, Wild Winds, Soothing Mists

Your Team:

Start out with your Dragon and use Moonfire and then Heal.  Use Flamethrower to break the cocoon and then Flamethrower again.  About 75% of the time, you’ll just have hit 1/2 of Dusty’s health and your next Moonfire will hit with a dragonkin bonus.  This should finish off Dusty, but if not, heal up with Ancient Blessing and Flamethrower/Flamethrower again.

You should be able to heal right away with Whispertail in the game.  Use Flamethrower as a filler ability and use Moonfire/Ancient Blessing every time they’re off of cooldown.  Sometimes you’ll kill Whispertail, sometimes not.  Either way when your Dragon dies bring your leveling pet in and immediately swap him out for Chrominius (you’ll take 0 damage with your level 1).

With Chrominius in, Bite to finish off Whispertail if you need.  When the Spirit’s in use Howl, Bite, and Surge of Power.  He’ll be finishied.

Aki the Chosen: Timeless Isle Edition

akitimelessSo I wasn’t planning on updating Aki’s leveling strategy, but this one works so well I just had to write it up.  I was also missing the fact that I couldn’t use a pet with level 1 health.

Aki the Chosen‘s Team:

  • Chirrup – Swarm, Nature’s Touch, Inspiring Song
  • Stormlash – Call Lightning, Tail Sweep, Roar
  • Whiskers – Surge, Survival, Dive

Goal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Your Team:

Start with the Frolicker and use Barkskin.  Just keep using Bite to heal yourself back up to full while always keeping Barkskin up.  Finish Chirrup by casting Barkskin and then Bite.  This will ensure you won’t need to cast Barkskin at all during the Stormlash part of the fight.  When Stormlash comes in start with Kick and Bite his head off until you can Kick again.  Bite a couple of times more against Whiskers, and bring in your carry pet after your Frolicker dies.  Immediately swap to Jade Owl and  use Adrenaline Rush to gain the speed advantage for Dive (it won’t matter for Surge), and Slicing Wind while Whiskers isn’t using Dive.  Use Lift-Off to dodge his Dive.  He’ll be finished quickly.

Flowing Pandaren Spirit: Round 2

waterGoal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Flowing Pandaren Spirit’s Team:

  • Marley – Pump, Dive, Whirlpool
  • Tiptoe – Water Jet, Healing Wave, Tidal Wave
  • Pandaren Water Spirit – Whirlpool, Geyser, Tidal Wave

Your Team:

  • Jade Owl with Slicing Wind, Adrenaline Rush, and Lift-Off
  • Level 10 pet
  • Tiny White Carp with Water Jet, Healing Wave, and Dive

Start with the Owl and use Adrenaline Rush and Slicing Wind before Marley Dives.  Lift-Off to dodge the Dive and Whirlpool.  Slicing Wind until Marley’s finished.  Use Slicing Wind/Lift-Off until your Owl or Tiptoe dies.  Either way, swap to your leveling pet and then immediately swap out with the Carp.  Heal when you can, and Dive to avoid the Geyser and Whirlpool.  Use the Water Jet to finish off the Water Spirit.

Aki the Chosen: Round 2

akichosenThere’s always different pets and different solutions to the pet tamers, and so I’m always looking for better or more fun ways to beat them.  I also know that this team is a bit advanced because it includes a Celestial Tournament pet, but it makes the fight so much more bearable than using a Crab to Heal/diminish hits forever.

Aki the Chosen‘s Team:

  • Chirrup – Swarm, Nature’s Touch, Inspiring Song
  • Stormlash – Call Lightning, Tail Sweep, Roar
  • Whiskers – Surge, Survival, Dive

Goal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Your Team:

Lead with Zao and use his Charge, then Wish, and then Horn Gore until Chirrup’s dead.  Swap to the Scourged Whelpling and change the weather to Darkness, use Plagued Blood, and then Tail Sweep until Stormlash is finished.  Keep doing damage to Whiskers with Tail Sweep until your Whelpling is dead and then use Plagued Blood on your last Undead freebie turn.  Swap your level pet in and take a Surge to the face.  Then back to Zao to finish off Whiskers.  Time Niuzao’s Charge with Dive and you’ll be fine.

Obalis

obalisObalis’ Team:

  • Pyth – Vicious Fang, Poison Fang, Counterstrike
  • Spring – Slicing Wind, Cocoon Strike, Moth Dust
  • Clatter- Hiss, Flank, Apocalypse

Goal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Your Team:

Open with the Darkmoon Tonk and cast Minefield, Missile (if it misses, cast this again) and then Ion Cannon.  This will finish off Pyth and almost half of Spring’s health.  Bring your level pet in and take a hit and then swap it back out.  Swap in your Emerald Whelpling and use Emerald Presence and finish off Spring with Emerald Bite.  If the timing is bad on Spring’s Cocoon Strike, feel free to heal up with Emerald Dream before you finish him with Emerald Bite.  Make sure to keep Emerald Presence up when Clatter comes in, and finish him with Emerald Bite as well.

Hyuna of the Shrines

hyunaGoal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Hyuna of the Shrine’s Team:

  • Skyshaper – Confusing Sting, Slicing Wind, Glowing Toxin
  • Fangor – Hiss, Vicious Fang, Burrow
  • Dor the Wall – Shell Shield, Headbutt, Healing Wave

Your Team:

Lead with the Whelpling and use Tail Sweep, Arcane Storm, and then Mana Surge.  This should give you the dragonkin bonus for a 1k hit on Fangor after Skyshaper dies.  Bring in your Flyer and Alpha Strike to finish off Fangor.  Use Cocoon Strike on Dor the Wall to block Headbutt and swap in your level 1 pet.  Use any ability and then bring back your Flyer.  Finish Dor off by using Alpha Strike and continue blocking Headbutt with Cocoon Strike

Mo’ruk

morukGoal: Defeat tamer with two level 25 pets and one low level pet for maximum pet experience

Mo’ruk‘s Team:

  • Woodcarver – Acidic Goo, Consume, Burrow
  • Lightstalker – Moth Balls, Alpha Strike, Moth Dust
  • Needleback – Headbutt, Grasp, Powerball

Your Team:

  • Darkmoon Zeppelin – Missile, Explode, Decoy
  • Chrominius – Howl, Surge of Power
  • Level 1 pet

Lead with Darkmoon Zeppelin using Missile, Decoy, Missile, Missile, Missile and Woodcarver should be dead.  Swap to Chrominius when Lightstalker is in and use Howl and Surge of Power which will finish off Lightstalker.  Chrominius will be finished off by Needleback.  Swap back to the Zeppelin and use Decoy when Needleback’s Headbutt has 1 round left on cooldown, otherwise, use Missile until Needleback has less than 610 health.  Use Explode to kill Needleback and the Zeppelin.  Your level 1 pet will be the only pet left and receive all the experience for the fight.
